MORNING CHURCH

Growing more like Jesus. Grounded in God’s word.

MEETING EVERY SUNDAY

9.30AM IRONSIDE STATE SCHOOL

We are a gathering grounded in God’s word and growing the Kingdom of God. We have avibrant children’s and youth program catering for ages 0 to 16 years old. People come from all over the world, and from many ages and stages of life.

The “vibe” of our gathering is contemporary, friendly, and informal. Each week we hear from God’s word and have it explained, speak to God in prayer, sing His praises and have a question and answer time. Smaller groups of people from morning church meet at various times during the week in Growth Groups.

+ Do I need to register before I come?

No. At this stage we have sufficient capacity to welcome everyone who comes. We do however register everyone on arrival in accordance with the Covid Safe requirements.

+ What happens during church?

Each week we meet for about 1hr 15 mins. During this time we sing, pray, hear the bible read and then explained in a sermon, followed by a question and answer time. We aim to have communion once a month.

+ What if English is not my first language?

There are people from many different countries who call St Lucia Bible Church home. We have a transcript of the sermon which is available in print and electronically, so anyone can have a written copy of what is preached.

+ Do I have to be a Christian to come?

NO. We have people from every walk of life. There are people with us each week who come along to investigate what Christians believe. Our prayer is that those who are not yet Christians find out how good Jesus is, and become Christians.

+ What Denomination are you?

We are an Independent Evangelical church, which is part of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). We are friends with many other churches in Brisbane, and welcome people who come from various denominations. Others amongst us have no particular prior denominational affiliation.

+ What kind of songs do you sing?

Our songs are contemporary and are played by a band that consists of a mixture of guitar, keyboard, vocals, drum box or kit, bass guitar and sometimes a violin. The focus of the music is on what the lyrics teach us about Jesus.

+ Is there a kids program?

Yes. We have programs that cater for children age 0 to 15. We run a crèche suitable for babies to 3 year olds. Our Kidschurch program teaches God’s word to children age 3 to 12, in a caring, fun and safe environment.

Our Youth Discipleship Groups help teenagers connect with God through his word, and with each other. Parents are welcome to stay with their children to help them settle into the group or leave them in the care of the dedicated leaders. See the Children and youth page for more info.

+ Can Uni Students Come?

Yes. We have Post graduates and Post Doc Students and their families with us from all over the world. Undergraduates do come who enjoy gathering with people from all ages, however our gathering which works particularly closely with undergraduates is Unichurch which meets at UQ.

+ What are Growth Groups?

Growth groups are gatherings of people, generally in people’s homes, which meet during the week. Here we study God’s word and pray together. They are places where we get to know others much better, and so grow our relationships with each other and with God. These groups are led by members of our church.
